🚗 Option 1: By Car from Munich
If you prefer more comfort or are traveling in a group, you can rent a car at Munich Airport.
Estimated travel time to Ettal: approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Recommended route: Autobahn A95 towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen, then take the exit toward Oberau/Ettal.
🚆 Option 2: By Train from Munich to Oberammergau
From Munich Airport, take the S-Bahn (S8 or S1) to Munich Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) – approx. 40–45 minutes.
From the Hauptbahnhof, take a regional train to Murnau or Oberau. From there, connect via local train or bus to Oberammergau, which is just 5 km from Ettal.
From Oberammergau, you can take a taxi or local RVO bus to Ettal (about 10 minutes).
